The Belgian Tervuren Dog

The Belgian Tervuren dog is named after the Belgian village of Tervuren. It shares a common ancestry with the Belgian Malinois and the Belgian sheepdog. All three were considered one breed until 1891 when separate breed standards were developed. Interbreeding may have continued after 1891 causing some confusion when distinguishing the breeds. To add to the confusion, all three breeds are known by the alternate name of Chien de Berger Belge.

Origin Belgium dating back to around the 1800's.
