The Borzoi Dog
The Borzoi dog originates from Russia dating back to the Middle Ages. Original uses were to hunt wolves and to protect
owners and their property from wolves. Usually working in pairs, it is one of the few breeds that can actually out run
and catch wolves. However, for the last century it has been breed as a companion rather than a hunter.
As popularity grew in America, the glamorous breed was often seen in the company of the rich and famous.
Its long lean head, oblong close set eyes, and small pointed ears are some the easily recognized characteristics of
this striking breed.
In history, Queen Victoria of England was given a Borzoi by the Czar of Russia who would often present them to visiting dignitaries.
