The Clumber Spaniel Dog

The Clumber Spaniel dog one of the oldest spaniels dating back to the 1700's. It gets its name from the Duke of Newcastle's English estate, Clumber Park. Despite its English name, it is believed to originate from France. Although its popularity is mainly as a versatile hunter and retriever, it does make a likeable companion that usually devotes itself to one person.

Temperament An easy-going yet lovable and affectionate hunter or companion. It is intelligent and determined when working.

Living Conditions Is most content when living indoors with its master.
Exercise Should have at least moderate regular exercise.
Coat It's coat is dense and flat. It is soft to the touch and weather resistant.
Grooming Requires brushing once or twice a week.
Colors White with yellow or orange markings.
Height and Weight Ideal weight is 55 to 85 pounds (25 to 38.5 kg) while the ideal height is 17 to 20 inches (43 to 50.75 cm). Variations may occur in individual animals.
Life Expectancy 11 to 13 years.
Group The AKC places the Clumber Spaniel dog in the herding group.
