The Collie can live outdoors in temperate to cool climates. Because of its loyalty and devotion, it will be happier living indoors with its family. |

Rough Coat: The Rough Coat Collie dog has a profuse two layered coat. The outer coat is straight and rough (or harsh). The coat is extra abundant on the mane and frill. The under coat is also profuse, but much softer to the touch.
Smooth Coat: Has a single layered short dense coat. |

Rough Coat: Requires brushing every other day.
Smooth Coat: Brushing once a week is sufficient. |
