The Flat-Coated Retriever Dog
The Flat-Coated Retriever dog originates from Great Britain dating back to the 1800's. It ancestors include the Newfoundland, the Wavy Coated Retriever, and several breeds of setters. Although very popular before 1900, it's popularity dropped to the point of near extinction by 1945. Fortunately, breeding programs after that time have brought the numbers back to where the Flat-Coated Retriever is again a viable breed.
