The Greyhound Dog
The Greyhound dog originally existed in ancient Egypt where tomb carvings prove it lived there thousands of years ago.
The Greyhound dog we know today was bred in Great Britain, and from there exported to the rest of the world.
The Greyhound is the fasted of all canines and can reach speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour (64 kph). It hunts by sight, using
its speed to catch its prey. In spite of its hunting ability it makes an even tempered and gentle companion. It is easy to train, obedient, and a pleasure to own. One word of caution; a Greyhound that is retired from racing, may instinctively dash off to catch any quick moving target.
In America the AKC registers mainly show dogs, while he National Greyhound Association registers racing dogs.
