The Labrador Retriever Dog
The name would suggest that the Labrador Retriever dog originates from Labrador Canada. In fact it originates from the neighboring geographic region - the province of Newfoundland, Canada. Breeding stock from Canada was taken to England in the early 1800's where cross breeding developed the Labrador we know today. It has become very popular world wide, and is one of the most popular dogs in North America. Although it loves to swim, retrieve, and be very active, it does make a dependable and amiable family dog. It has earned it's popularity.
