The Manchester Terrier Dog

The Manchester Terrier dog comes in two varieties, a standard and a toy. They are differentiated by size; the toy is under 12 pounds while the standard is between 12 and 22 pounds. It is a sleek and compact dog with a smooth muscular body. It was once a very popular dog and affectionately called the "English Gentlemen's Terrier". It makes a well behaved house dog and is devoted to its family.

Exercise Requires a moderate amount of daily exercise such as a good walk or a lively game. The Toy needs less exercise than the standard.
Coat It has a single layered short dense coat. The coat has a smooth glossy appearance.
Grooming Minimal
Colors It is black and tan; has black patch on the front of both forelegs and on top of each toe. There is a small tan spot over each eye, and on each cheek.
Height and Weight Toy Weight is under 12 pounds (5.4 kg)
Standard Weight is 12 to 22 pounds (5.4 to 10 kg).
Toy Height range is usually 10 to 12 inches (25.4 to 30.5 cm).
Standard Height range is usually 15 to 16 inches (38 to 40.6 cm).
Variations may occur in individual animals.
Life Expectancy 14 to 15 years.
Group The AKC places the Manchester Terrier (Standard) dog in the Terrier group while it places the Manchester Terrier (Toy) in the Toy group.
