Name Your Dog

Trying to name your dog can be a difficult assignment. Suppose you have just received a new puppy! This is a very exciting time. But unless your dog came with a name that you are happy with, you are now faced with finding a new name. This is a decision I would not rush. Your new companion's name is very special and deserves extra deliberation. Take your time as you ponder what to name your dog.

I would recommend choosing a name that is one or two syllables. This is easier for your dog to recognize and respond to, especially if you own more than one dog and try to call one out of the group.

In the links on this page, I have listed thousands of actual dog names. These are real names that people have used on their dogs. Some break my suggestion of using only one or two syllable words, but ultimately it is your choice. Notice as well that some names have more than one spelling or more than one variation. That is the beauty of names. They do not have to follow Standard English. A dog name is a dog name, and it is anything you want it to be! So review the attached pages, take your time; hopefully you will find the right name to go with your new canine friend.

Still having trouble finding that special dog name? How about choosing one of the suggested names and then changing it a little in order to customise it just for you and your special friend. Then, send me an e-mail at the Contact Me Page so I can add it to my list.
