The Pekingese cannot tolerate heat. It does enjoy a cool day. It is not suitable for outdoor living. |

The Pekingese dog has an outer coat of long coarse straight hair plus a softer but profuse under coat. |
| Grooming |
Regular brushing is required to keep the coat in good shape and to prevent matting. The wrinkle above the nose should be cleaned on a daily basis so as to avoid infection. |
