The Scottish Terrier Dog

The Scottish Terrier dog originates from Great Britain dating back to the 1800's. Its ancestry is somewhat unsure. At one time it was confused with other terriers from Scotland and later the Skye Terrier from the Isle of Skye. A standard for the breed was established in the 1880's. Today it is a very popular dog in both Europe and North America. One of the most popular Scottish Terriers was President Franklin Roosevelt's dog Fala. Fala accompanied the president in and out of the office. The Scottish Terrier gives the appearance of a large dog on short legs. Two distinguishing features are its protruding eyebrows and its long beard.
