The Silky Terrier Dog

The Silky Terrier Dog has previously gone by other names including the Australian Silky Terrier and the Sidney Terrier. In America it became known as the Silky Terrier in 1955. The breed was developed by crossing the Yorkshire Terrier with the Australian Terrier. The resulting breed has characteristics of both breeds. It is easy to confuse the Silky Terrier with the Yorkshire Terrier since they are so closely related. One easy distinction is in size. The Silky is taller and heavier; also the Silky is more muscular and has 'cat like' feet.

Origin The Silky Terrier dog originates from Australia dating back to the late 1800's. It's ancestors are believed to include the Yorkshire Terrier and the Australian Terrier.
