The Sussex Spaniel Dog

The Sussex Spaniel dog, as it's name suggests, originates from Sussex England. It is a short compact and muscular dog that works well on rough terrain. Although popular in England in the 1800, it's numbers have dropped since then and today it is one of the rarest breeds.

Living Conditions Can live outdoors in moderate climates, but does best when living indoors while having its exercise needs meet outdoors.
Exercise Requires daily exercise. This need can be met by a long walk, or a time of free roaming in a safe area.
Coat It has a dense coat of flat or slightly wavy hair. There is feathering on the both front and back legs. There is long wavy hair on the ears, and a pronounced fill on the neck.
Grooming Requires brushing twice a week or more.
Colors Rich golden liver
Height and Weight Weight range is 35 to 45 pounds (15.9 to 20.4 kg) while the height range is 13 to 15 inches (33 to 38.1 cm). Variations may occur in individual animals.
Life Expectancy 12 to 14 years.
Group The AKC places the Sussex Spaniel dog in the sporting group.
