The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Dog
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon dog originates from France. It's ancestry comes from dogs bred by Edward Korthals
of Holland. However, the breed became more popular in France than in Holland and thus it became known a French breed. It is an excellent swimmer and loves to retrieve equally on land or water.

It has a distinguishing two layered coat. The outer coat is of medium length, straight, harsh and wiry. The water resistant undercoat is fine and dense, and lighter in color. |

It comes in a variety of colors, the most common is steel gray with brown markings. Other colorings include white and brown, and white and orange. |

Ideal weight is 50 to 60 pounds (22.7 to 27.2kg) while the ideal height is 20 to 24 inches (50.8 to 61 cm). Variations may occur in individual animals. |
